With the recent outbreak of the deadly coronavirus that happened in Wuhan, China. The epidemic, which started from 12 December 2019, has caused 2,050 laboratory-confirmed infections with 56 fatal cases by 26 January 2020. The virus can be found in farm animals and causes illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).
There is no doubt that worries from consumers about our food being contaminated by this deadly disease has started to rise. With that, we would like to shed light on our production methods, material selection and the safety of our products.
It is totally possible for our supplies to get contaminated during the logistics process. Thus, making our products a potential health hazard for our customers. But rest assured that the raw materials that are put into production have gone through a heavy screening process and are check according to Food Safety & Quality Division (FSQD) standards.
Furthermore, the raw materials that goes into our products undergo various cooking and baking processes with very high heat. Although lacking further research, but any form of viruses, including coronavirus, will not survive with high amounts of heat.
Consumers of various Nestle products can rest easy knowing that precautions are made to ensure that the food products in the market are tested for safety before being put in store shelves.
